The National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples is a members organisation.

Membership is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and Individuals over the age of 18 years.

Our success and ability to grow and develop over the coming years will be guided by the diversity and calibre of our members.

In the short time since we opened our doors, there has been an amazing swell of interest, encouragement and expectation about becoming a member of the Congress and what we can achieve.

Congress is committed to increasing the profile of the company and will continue to drive membership around Australia.

Member Benefits

As a member, you will have the opportunity to be one of the delegates to the annual forums and help set the agenda for the Congress into the future.

Feedback from the community tells us that people want to have their voices heard, to add their opinion on issues to help shape the policies of Government and corporate Australia.

We survey our members to get ideas, input and to understand positions on specific issues and then use this information to help develop policies. Members will also receive regular information and updates from us.

Most importantly the Congress is based on principles of democracy and we will continue to work on giving members the chance to participate directly by voting.

We also hope to provide training and workshops that help give our members skills to pursue their own agendas in their local communities or perhaps the State or Territory they live in.

Membership Process

As an individual applicant, once you have submitted your application, it will be considered as soon as possible. It may take a few weeks before your Membership Card is printed and posted to you with your name and unique number.

Organisations that apply are assessed against criteria to help confirm which Chamber they will be a member of. A certificate of membership will be sent to the nominated contact after it has been considered by the Board. If you have any problems or need assistance filling in the form please email us at membership@nationalcongress.com.au.
