The National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples is an organisation guided by its membership.

Membership is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and Individuals over the age of 18 years. (Non-Indigenous people may become a Friend of Congress.)

Our success and ability to grow and develop over the coming years will be guided by the diversity and participation of our members.

Since we opened our doors in 2010, there has been strong interest, encouragement and expectations about what we can achieve.

Congress is committed to increasing the profile of the company and will continue enrol members around Australia.

Member Benefits

As a member, you will have the opportunity to nominate as one of the delegates to forums and help set the agenda for the Congress into the future.

Feedback from the community tells us that people want to have their voices heard, to help shape the policies of Government and corporate Australia.

We survey our members to get ideas, input and to understand positions on specific issues and then use this information to help develop policies. Members also receive information and updates from us.

Congress is based on principles of democracy and we will continue to work on giving members the chance to participate directly by voting.

Membership Process

Membership applications from individuals are considered as soon as possible. It may take a few weeks before your Membership Card is printed and posted to you with your name and unique number. (Currently our Membership Card Printer is not operational due to our recent office relocation. We will send a welcome letter and follow up with a Membership Card when our printer is operational again.)

Organisations that apply are assessed against criteria to confirm which Chamber they will be a member of. A certificate of membership will be sent to the nominated contact after it has been considered by the Board. If you have any problems or need assistance filling in the form please email us at
